CYLINDER LINER OF DIESEL ENGINE

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a cylinder liner by subjecting CV cast iron cast into the cylinder liner to necessary heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:As-cast CV cast iron cast into a cylinder liner is hardened and tempered to convert the ferrite structure into a sorbite structure, or it is subjected to carburization heat treatment to form a pearlite structure. Thus, the wear resistance of the CV cast iron can be improved by utilizing the CV cast iron while maintaining the strength. By the treatment a cylinder liner for a Diesel engine having improved sliding wear characteristics to a piston ring can be provided.
