PURPOSE:To read continuously a tracking servocontrol signal by forming isolatedly a magnetic layer in which the servocontrol signal is recorded and a magnetic layer which has vertical anisotropy and in which data information is recorded. CONSTITUTION:A soft magnetic layer 21 consisting of Ni-Fe, etc. is formed by a sputtering method, etc. on a substrate 20 consisting of a non-magnetic material. A recording layer 22 for longitudinal recording having intrasurface magnetic anisotropy is formed on the layer 21 and further the recording layer 23 for vertical recording consisting of Co-Cr, etc. and having the vertical magnetic anisotropy is formed on the layer 22. The layer 22 is isolated from the vertical recording layer 23 and the soft magnetic layer 21 and therefore the layer 22 is required to have >=0.1mu thickness and for such purpose, the continuous metallic film consisting of Co-Ni, etc. is used. A protective layer or lubricating layer 24 is provided on the layer 23, if necessary.
