PURPOSE:To eliminate a useless resistance in a displacement type supercharger, and to aim at enhancing the output power of an engine and the economy of fuel consumption, by providing a device which makes variable at least either one of the suction terminating time at the suction air take-in port of the displacement type supercharger driven by an engine and the discharge initiating time at the pressure take-out port of the supercharger. CONSTITUTION:In an intake-air pipe 7 in an engine 1 there is provided a displacement type supercharger 13 which is coupled with a wheel 18 which is driven by the crankshaft 17 of an engine through a clutch 19 and is therefore, driven. The suction air take-in port and pressure take-out port of the supercharger are divided by walls 20, 26, respectively, and a first suction air take-in port 21 and a first pressure take-out port 27 are normally opened, and a second suction air take-in port 22 and a second pressure take-out port 28 are disposed therein with shut-off valves 25, 29, respectively. Upon low load operation of the engine the second suction air take-in port 22 or the second pressure take-out port 28 is closed while it is opened upon high load operation of the engine. Therefore, by changing the timing of air suction or discharge, an optimum drive of the supercharger may be carried out. |
