PURPOSE:To increase the weighing capacity accuracy of a zinc powder and achieve improve battery characteristics by fixing carbon fluoride to the surfaces of the particles of a powdery mixture principally composed of the zinc powder to improve the flowability of the mixture and then pouring an alkaline electrolyte solution into the mixture to make a gel-like zinc negative active material. CONSTITUTION:After an amalgamated zinc powder is combined with a dispersant such as magnesium oxide or titanium oxide and a paste such as soda polyacrylate powder, the powdery mixture is stabilized by moistening it. Then carbon fluoride is added to the powdery mixture before the thus prepared mixture is moistened to stabilize it. Next, a given amount of this powdery mixture principally composed of zinc powder is packed into a sealing plate 6. After that, a solution prepared by dissolving zinc oxide into caustic soda is poured into the packed mixture, thereby making a gel-like zinc negative active material 7. The above addition of carbon fluoride increases the flowability of the powdery mixture thereby greatly improving its weighing capacity accuracy. Furthermore, it also increases the electric conductivity of the negative active material 7. |
