PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate range-finding operation even for a scene having a state in which range-finding is made difficult by judging such a state. SOLUTION: In a range-finder to perform the range-finding by detecting the plural image signals of the object of a range-finding area within a photographic plane, the noise state of the range-finder at the time of photoelectric conversion is decided by a noise deciding part 1a, so that the range-finding area is selected in accordance with a discriminated result. Also, a range-finding result by the range-finder is fixed for a specified distance based on a noise decided result. Or, the output of the range-finder is made ineffective in accordance with the noise decided result and the quantity of light made incident on the range-finder. |
