PURPOSE:To prevent harmful components from being emitted into the atmosphere, by providing a catalyst device between the exhaust port of an engine and the turbine inlet port of a turbo-charger to effect a catalyzing action in the whole operating range of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Intake-air is fed into an engine 4 from an air-cleaner 8 through a compressor 3 and an intake-port 5. Exhaust gas is discharged from an exhaust port 9 into the atmosphere through a catalyst device 10, a turbine 2 and a muffler 12. The temperature of a turbine inlet 11 is higher than the reaction limiting temperature of a catalyst over the whole rotational speed range of the engine. Further, since exhaust gas is introduced into the catalyst before it flows into the turbine inlet 11, the catalyst reacts over the whole operating range of the engine to decompose detrimental components (CO, HC, NOx) in exhaust gas, thereby it is possible to prevent detrimental components from being emitted. |
