PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a power converter by providing the second snubber circuit in parallel with a self-extinguishing semiconductor element connected in parallel with the first snubber circuit and a saturable reactor. CONSTITUTION:A voltage supplied from a DC power source 1 is applied through a wiring inductance 2, a saturable reactor 31, a gate turn-off (GTO) thyristor 5 as a self-extinguishing semiconductor element to a load circuit 3 to conduct or interrupt the thyristor 5 to control the supplied voltage. The first snubber circuit 10 is connected in parallel with the thyristor 5, and the snubber circuit 20 is connected in parallel with a series connection circuit of the thyristor 5 and the reactor 31. Thus, a reverse current of a diode 10D contained in the snubber circuit 10 is limited, the current varying speed when the diode 10D is alleviated to prevent a spike voltage from generating. |
