PURPOSE:To switch each part automatically with simple constitution by connecting two switches detecting detecting holes of a chromium type and a metal type tape to the paired earth from a power supply of each circuit. CONSTITUTION:Switches S1, S2 utilizing tape detection holes are turned on when no hole exists and they are connected to the paired earth. When a normal tape is used in a reproduction equalizer section A, the S1, S2 are turned on and when a chromium type tape or a metal type tape is used, the S2 is turned off. In case of the chromium type, the S2 in the recording equalizer section B is turned off and in case of the metal tape, the S1 is turned off. In the erasure bias section C, the S1, S2 are turned on for the normal type, the S2 is turned on for chromium type and the S1, S2 are turned off for metal type. In a tape display section D, the S1, S2 are turned on for normal type, the S2 is turned off for chromium type and the S1 is turned off for metal type. Thus, the operation of each circuit is switched automatically depending on the kinds of the tape by means of the S1, S2.
