PURPOSE:To decrease the width of a player by allowing to store a tone arm to the rear part of a record player in excess of a turntable axis after the end of playing of a record disc. CONSTITUTION:The titled mechanism is constituted of a pickup plate 3 turned incorporatedly with a tone arm 1, a turntable shaft gear 21 fixed coaxially with the turntable shaft 20, a return drive gear 17 meshing freely with the gear 21, a start plate 18 freely coupled with a claw 22 of the gear 21, a cam slot 24 formed to the gear 17, an arm return lever 25 freely pushing the plate 3 and a plunger 14 turning a start plate 18 and engaging it with a claw 22 of the gear 21 at the end of playing of the record disc 13. After the end of playing of the record disc 13, the tone arm 1 is stored to the rear part of the record player beyond the turntable shaft 20.
