PURPOSE:To shorten the first copying operation time after removing jammed paper and to prevent stains in a copying machine by stopping a rotary photosensitive body when trouble is detected in the copying operation, returning a scanning means for exposing an original to a home position, and then, stopping it. CONSTITUTION:A mobile stand 2 placing an exposure lamp 2 and a mirror, a mobile stand 3 placing 2 mirrors, and an exposure optical device 5 including a projection lens 4 are arranged above a photosensitive drum 1 rotated in the arrow direction. The image of an original placed on an original platen glass 6 is formed on the drum 1 with the device 5. A detector 101 for detecting the presence of the device 5 in the home position is installed and its output is fed to a control circuit for controlling the drive of the device 5 and the drum 1, and when this circuit receives the signal of a jam detector for detecting poor separation of the transfer paper from the drum 1, said circuit stops the drive of the drum 1 and returns the device 5 to the home position and stops drive of the device 5, thus permitting the first copying operation time to be shortened after jammed paper is removed, and stains in the machine to be prevented. |
