PURPOSE:To improve photosensitive characteristics and printing characteristics by forming on a support an antihalation layer, a silver halide (AgX) emulsion layer, and a physical development nucleus layer in succession, incorporating a developing agent in each constituent layer and using a specified silver halide and an Ir compd. in the silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:The antihalation layer, the silver halide emulsion layer, and the physical development nucleus layer are laminated on the support to form a silver salt lithographic material, and it contains a developing agent in these constituent elements enough to develop silver halide in said exposed silver halide emulsion layer and to execute physical development of said physical development nucleus layer by alkali activation treatment, and said silver halide emulsion layer contains >=95mol% silver chloride and an Ir compd., and the content of silver bromide on the outer surface of each silver halide grain is higher than that in the inside. The use of silver halide of such a compsn. and the Ir compd. permits high intensity characteristics to be improved, no high intensity reciprocity failure to be exhibited as a printing material, a high quality image to be obtained with high sensitivity by a short time exposure to laser beams or the like, and ink receptivity and printing resistance to be improved due to high silver content of the physical development nucleus layer. |
