PURPOSE:To obtain a generator for improving the commonality of components according to various wiring system in an engine room, by a method wherein the fitting sections for each mechanical component of a brush retainer, a voltage regulator or the like are arranged with the central shaft of the brush for axis of symmetry and in a symmetrical position. CONSTITUTION:A commutating device, a voltage regulator, a coupler having power-generation-detecting terminals, and the like are contained in an AC generator, and the commutating device 18, the voltage regulator 37, the coupler 43, a brush retainer 28, a terminal post 47 and the like are attached to a rear housing 12 with fitting sections, and the fitting sections 42 and 46, the fitting sections 49 and 50 are symmetrically arranged in the right and left direction against the central shaft 51 of the brush 30 for axis of symmetry. And when a vehicle is provided with the generator, each mechanical component is arranged to be fitted in either direction of right or left according to the wiring system in the engine room of the vehicle. |
