PURPOSE:To set another original or exchange an original with another original during the course of copying operation and to perform the copying operation efficiently, by supporting a contact glass, whose surface area is twice as large as the size possible for copying, by means of the main body of the copying machine under a movable condition. CONSTITUTION:Copying is performed by placing an original 6 on a glass surface 5 after opening a press plate 4 and pressing the original 6 against a contact glass 3. During the copying operation, another press plate 4a is opened and the next original 6a is set on another glass surface 5a, and then, the original 6a is pressed by the press plate 4a. When the original 6 is copied, the glass 3 is slid leftward together with the press plates 4 and 4a under the guidance of guide rails 7 and 17 and the glass surface 5a is brought to the operating position, and thus, the copy of the original 6a is taken. While the original 6a is copied, the press plate 4 is opened and the copied original 6 is taken out. Then the 3rd original is placed on the glass surface 5 and the copy of the 3rd original is taken by sliding the glass 3 rightward after the copy of the original 6a is taken.
