A video disc player comprises a holding device(35) which holds a retaining frame(17) in a casing(16) for containing a disc(15). The holding device unlocks the disc from the casing when the casing containing the disc accompanied with the retaining frame is inserted into a housing of the player. The holding device releases the retaining frame and locks it to the casing when the empty casing is inserted into the housing. The shaft of the holding device is a double-shaft structure(661, 662). This device is simple in construction and enables smooth operation.
