PURPOSE:To improve the engagement between a pinion and a ring gear even so better, by installing such a device that checks the flection of a drive spring to the extent just before the ring gear and the pinion are engaged with each other, in case of an engine starter. CONSTITUTION:There are provided with a pinion 7 engaging a ring gear of an engine, a lever 16 transferring this pinion 7 and a starter motor 1 rotating the pinion 7. With a collar 14 and annular spring 15, flection in a drive spring 13 is checked to the extent just before the ring gear 9 and the pinion 7 are engaged with each other. At that time just before the ring gear and the pinion engage, a magnet switch 18 is closed whereby the starter motor gets rotating, and in the meantime this rotational frequency is low, the pinion is engaged with the ring gear. Thus, the engagement between the pinion and the ring gear is improvable so favorable enough. |
