PURPOSE:To remove one side bearing at the suction side as well as to make load capacity of a magnetic bearing improvable, by supporting either of the rotors in an oilfree screw vacuum pump one-sidedly at the discharge side, while setting up the magnetic bearing at the suction side of the other side rotor. CONSTITUTION:This vacuum pump is of vertical type in version mounting a screw pump on an electric motor 20, and a bearing at the suction side of its female rotor 11 is removed whereby it is one-sidedly supported by a bearing 16 at the discharge side. On the other hand, the suction side of a male rotor 10 is supported by a magnetic bearing 17. As a result, size of the magnetic bearing is optionally settable without being obstructed by the bearing at the suction side of the female rotor. Therefore, load capacity in the magnetic bearing is well improvable and, what is more, the promotion of an oil-free system in a screw type vacuum pump is so facilitated.
