PURPOSE:To miniaturize a thermal printing head free of the catching of a ribbon by providing a projected guider to allow the ribbon to escape toward the sideward direction between a dot portion and a signal terminal portion on the base plate. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal printing head 11, a dot portion 13 in which plural dots (d) are vertically arranged on the base plate 12 and a signal terminal portion 14 are formed. A footpath-shaped projected gujider 19 of a circular cross section is provided sideways betwen the dot portion 13 and the signal terminal portion 14. Even when any one of the head 11 and a transfer print ribbon 16 is moved and the ribbon 16 comes near a flexible base plate 15, the tip of the ribbon 16 collides with the guider 19 and is allowd to escape. The catching of the ribbon 16 by the joint of the bse plate 15 can thus be prevented. The preferred width and height of the guider 19 used are 0.8mm. and 40mum for example. The whole length L of the conventional thermal printing head can thus be shortened from 20mm. to about 15mm.. |
