PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigator which, by previously storing reduced-scale map information, prevents discontinuity of map information even in an area where communication is impossible. SOLUTION: The navigator 1 is equipped with a RAM8 storing map information, a telephone section 9 receiving map information, and a display section 7 displaying map information. In the case the telephone section 9 cannot receive information of detailed sectional-map information, the reduced-scale map information stored in the RAM8 is displayed on the display section 7.
