PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hollow product in which a hollow member and the other member can surely and easily be joined with high precision. SOLUTION: A catalytic converter 2 is obtained by forming a catalytic vessel 10 with a prescribed shape which retains a catalytic carrier from a tube stock 10', and further joining the catalytic vessel 10 and a flange member 11. The tube stock 10' is formed into the catalytic vessel 10 with a prescribed shape by spinning with a forming roller 22A. Successively, in a state where the circumferential faces of the joint 11b of the catalytic vessel 10 and the joint 11b of the flange member 11 are confronted, and they are rotated relatively around an axis, the inner circumferential face of the joint 10b of the catalytic vessel 10 is pressed to the outer circumferential face of the joint 11b of the flange member 11 in a radical direction by the forming roller 22A. Thus, friction heat is generated, and the circumferential faces of the joints 10b and 11b are joined. |
