The present invention relates to a device for training in and improving at tennis. The device according to the invention is characterised essentially in that it consists of a playing area 1 of a length equal to a tennis court, comprising a plane part 2 where the player moves and a part 3 formed from at least one slope inclined towards the lateral edges of the playing area 1, raised relative to the level of the plane part 2 and separated from the latter by a regulation-height net 4, of a ball thrower 5 provided with an automatic supply 6 of balls arranged outside the playing area 1 at the rear of the sloping part 3 and in its centre, and of at least one means 7 for recovering and bringing back the balls towards the thrower 5 arranged laterally with respect to the sloping part 3 and running right along the lowest edge of each slope of the said sloping part from the central zone of the playing area 1.
