PURPOSE:To improve the charge-and-discharge capacity and the preservation performance of a lithium secondary battery by using a negative electrode made of lithium and positive electrode made of active carbon fiber modified by an iron-cyanoron three-dimensional complex. CONSTITUTION:Active carbon fiber is subjected to cathodic electrolysis with a current density of 2-50muA/cm<2> while being immersed in a mixture composed of a ferric chloride solution of 0.02mol/l concentration and potassium ferricyanide solution of 0.02mol/l concentration. The thus treated fiber is then immersed in a potassium chloride solution before being dried in vacuum, thereby making a modified electrode. After that, this modified electrode used as a positive electrode 2 is impregnated with electrolyte and combined with a separator 3 and a lithium negative electrode 5, thereby constituting a lithium secondary battery. Therefore, during the manufacture of the battery, a redox-system compound is deposited on the surfaces of active carbon particles. Consequently, the preservation performance and the voltage characteristic of the battery can be improved by the total capacity of the active carbon and the electric double layer. |
