The invention relates to a vascular embolisation device consisting of a releasable valve balloon and its implementing catheter. The balloon 1 is made of an elastomer. It comprises at its proximal part a collar inside which a sleeve 2 is connected by adhesive bonding which projects into the balloon. The distal face of the sleeve is drilled. A locating nozzle 4 made of a radiopaque material is set inside the point of the sleeve. There is optionally attached to this nozzle a wire 5 made of a blood-soluble material which emerges from carrying catheter through which it travels. According to one variant, a second connected sleeve may be superimposed on the first sleeve. The balloon is introduced as far as the embolisation zone by means of a carrying catheter 7, over the distal end of which it is fitted. Its release is carried out after inflation by bringing a rigid catheter against the shoulder formed by the collar of the balloon. The holding of the balloon on the catheter is obtained by the fastening due to the difference of the internal diameter of the collar and the external diameter of the catheter (diameter < catheter diameter). Adhesion is improved by disposing at the distal end of the catheter a slightly raised and/or flared profile. The inflation of the balloon is carried out by injecting a liquid by means of a syringe connected to the proximal end of the carrying catheter. When the carrying catheter is retracted, the pressure existing in the balloon forces the projecting part of the sleeve to collapse. <IMAGE>
