PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition having excellent heat-resistance and mechanical strength, and useful as a material of electronic or electrical devices and mechanical parts, by compounding a specific cyanoaryl ether polymer to a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin, preferably polyester, polycarbonate or polyether, is compounded with a cyanoaryl ether polymer containing >=50% (in terms of number) recurring unit of formula I and <=50% recurring unit of formula II or formula III (Ar is group of formula IV, formula V, etc.) and having a reduced viscosity [etaSP/C] of preferably >=0.3dl/g as 0.2g/dl solution in N- methylpyrrolidone, and is melted and kneaded at 300-400 deg.C, preferably 360- 380 deg.C for 1-10min, preferably 2-3min. The amount of the cyanoaryl ether polymer is 10-90wt%, preferable 20-80wt% based on the whole composition.
