PURPOSE:To prepare the titled catalytic component of high activity with relatively large particle size, capable of giving polymers of both large and uniform particle size, by mutual contact, in a specific manner between magnesium halide, alkoxy-contg. compound of metal belonging to groups I -IV in the periodic table, alcohol compound, etc. CONSTITUTION:(A) An alcohol compound is brought into contact with the particle surface thin layer of a product derived from contact between (B) a magnesium halide (e.g. MgCl2) and (C) an alkoxy group-contg. compound of metal belonging to the groups I -IV in the periodic table (pref. tetraalkoxytitanium) followed by bringing (D) a liquid titanium halide (e.g. TiCl4) into contact, thus obtaining the objective catalytic component with an average particle size 10- 100mu. For bringing the component (A) into contact with said product from the components (B) and (C), the component (A) is preferably sprayed on said product particles in the form of liquid droplets with a size 10-100mu.
