PURPOSE:A solution containing both glutathione and cysteinyl glycine is treated with a specific strong-acid cation-exchange resin to effect easy separation of cysteinyl glycine with reduced loss in glutathione. CONSTITUTION:A solution which contains more than 10% of glutatione and cysteinyl glycine, respectively, with a pH of 1-7 such as a yeast extract, is stirred together with a strong acid type cation-exchange resin with a crosslinking degree of more than 8% or passes through a column filled with the same to bring them into contact with each other to allow cysteinyl glycine to be adsorbed. After completion of adsorption, the solution is separated from the resin to give a solution of glutathione only, completely free from cysteinyl glycine.
