PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for removing a jammed sheet by providing a plurality of position lamps arranged corresponding to espective positions on a paper path, which are respectively connected to paper jam detection means in such a manner as to operate only the lamp corresponding to a position where a paper jam occurs. CONSTITUTION:Paper jam detection means 241-244 are disposed at portions 181, 182, 183 of paper path and outlet portion of a discharge roller 23, respectively. These detection means 24 comprises a reflection-type photo sensor. The detection means 241 is adapted to send a paper jam detection signal on finding that a paper jam occurs when the detection means 241 detects a sheet even if a designated time t1 elapses from the time of sendind a drive signal for a paper feed roller 20. Similarly, the detection means 242, 243, 244 are adapted to send a paper jam detection signal when a sheet is not detected after the lapse of designated time t2, t3, t4 from the time of sending a drive signal of a roller 21, and only the corresponding lamp among position lamps 251-254 on a display panel is lighted. |
