High-voltage power circuit breaker for switching short-circuits which are close to the generator

The application relates to a high-voltage power circuit breaker having arc voltages of such a magnitude that, in the case of currents having suppressed zero-crossovers which can occur in the case of short-circuits which are close to the generator, a premature current zero-crossover is forced. In order to operate such circuit breakers for correct switching on and off in the case of short-circuits close to the generator as well; of n switching paths, n-m switching paths are switched on in a delayed manner, while during switching off, in contrast, all n switching paths are switched simultaneously.
