An implement (6) for facilitating lifting oil barrels or the like comprises two mutually movable arms (7, 8) one of which has a first clamping jaw (9) while the other has two spaced-apart second clamping jaws or clamping jaw-like members (10, 10'), the shortest distance between the first clamping jaw (9) and an imaginary line between the other two clamping jaws (10, 10') on the one hand exceeding the radius and, on the other hand, being less than the diameter of the barrel. The first clamping jaw (9) is arranged on an angularly projecting member (13) which is rigidly connected to a first arm (7) while the other clamping jaws (10, 10') are connected to each other and to a common second arm (8) which is pivotally connected to the first arm by a joint (14) which is located at a substantial distance from the coupling means (12) and at a small distance from the projecting member (13). |
