The invention relates to a heat exchanger according to the preamble of Claim 1. In order to achieve the desired thermal performance despite change in the variable relevant to the heat exchanger, e.g. in the flow resistance in the chambers, it is proposed according to the invention to produce the heat exchanger plates from an elastic material in such a way that the gap width measured in the longitudinal direction of the heat exchanger can be substantially varied.
