1. A process for increasing the anchorage strength of one end of an elongate metal element intended to be buried in a anchorage medium for withstanding high stresses, in which there is fitted to this end at least one engagement element which is fixed to said elongate metal element before the end thereof is buried in the anchorage medium, characterized in that a fixing method is used causing no substantial modification of the mechanical characteristics of the elongate element at its end.
