PURPOSE:To attain the transfer of a prescribed character according to its form by using a transparent code for a prescribed one of color codes that are allocated to each dot within a character and preventing the transfer of said transparent code only. CONSTITUTION:The signal of a control part 11 is used to supply the background pattern data to a latch circuit 13 via a video memory 12 and also the prescribed character data to an addition part 15 and a transparent code detecting part 16 through a character memory 14 respectively. The transparent code is detected out of the part 16 and supplied to a multiplication part 17. While the background pattern data is supplied to the part 17 from the circuit 13. The part 17 performs the multiplication between said character data and pattern data and supplies the resuflt of multiplication to the part 15. The part 15 adds the prescribed character data supplied from the memory 14 to the result of multiplication and supplies the data on the addition resuflt to the memory 12 after the prescribed character is transferred onto the background pattern.
