PURPOSE:To attain deletion of only a prescribed file by arranging temporarily the files which are not deleted on a memory, that is, the files to be left and then writing these files sequentially to an external memory. CONSTITUTION:When a file is designated and deleted, the files recorded to a sequential access type floppy disk drive device SDD are first read out. Then all file names are displayed on a CRT. Then a file to be deleted is designated with other files written on a memory RAM. A new number of files are written at the head of the RAM, and the files in the RAM are written sequentally to the device SDD. In such a way, the files which are not deleted, that is, the files to be left are arranged temporarily on the RAM and then written sequentially to the device SDD serving as an external memory. Thus only a prescribed file can be deleted.
