PURPOSE:To reduce chlorine concentration in liquid by making a vapor phase in a battery container to be mixed gas of chlorine gas and inert gas while collecting mixed gas when charging and blowing it into an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A vapor phase inside a battery container is made to be mixed gas of chlorine gas and inert gas. When charging, chlorine gas generated from the battery proper 1 passes through a chlorine-hydrogen reactor 4 together with the mixed for being sent into a hydrate tank 3 with a gas pump 5 so that the mixed gas is stored on the upper part inside the tank 3 as unreacted gas while being collected with a gas pump 6 for being blown into an electrolyte inside the electrolyte tank 2. The mixed gas blown-into flows in the arrow direction for being stored again on the upper part inside the hydrate tank 3. When the mixed gas is blown into the electrolyte, the electrolyte is severely stirred to generate chlorine gas in a supersaturated condition in the vapor phase while sharply reducing chlorine concentration in the liquid. As a result, self-corrosion in a zinc pole when charging is suppressed to improve current efficiency. |
