PURPOSE:To make it possible to dry many sheets of laver uniformly and improve the thermal efficiency at the same time, by closing the upper part of a laver drying chamber with a ceiling member, and providing the above-mentioned drying chamber of almost tightly closed structure. CONSTITUTION:In a laver dryer having a drying chamber 1 equipped with an endless transfer path 2 of laver sheets 5 in the interior thereof and a heat exchange chamber 10, provided at the side of the drying chamber 10, and communicating to the drying chamber 10, the upper part of the drying chamber 10 is closed with a ceiling member (1a) to provide the drying chamber 1 with an almost tightly closed structure. As a result, the laver sheets 5 are dried without discharging warm air fed into the drying chamber 10 from the upper part of the drying chamber 10. Thus, the warm air is uniformly blown on many laver sheets 5 transferred in the drying chamber 1 to dry uniformly the sheets 5. The wastefull discharge of the warm air to the outside is suppressed to improve the thermal efficiency.
