PURPOSE:To obtain the titled silver material capable of increasing the hardness, forming no oxide film and preventing defective brazing by dispersing uniformly and finely a specified amount of copper oxide in silver. CONSTITUTION:A silver material for an ornament is obtd. by dispersing uniformly and finely 1-15wt% copper oxide in silver. The hardness of the silver material can be increased by heat treatment such as annealing or brazing while preventing the coarsening of the grains, and the material has luster and is hardly scratched. No oxide film is formed on the silver material during heat treatment, giving an ornament with no irregular color, and the material can be brazed with high brazing strength by easy brazing work without causing defective brazing.
