PURPOSE:To provide an adhesive compsn. for vulcanization bonding of rubber to metal, having high adhesive power and excellent resistance to baking, prepd. by blending specified two resol type phenolic resins having different compsitions. CONSTITUTION:The adhesive compsn. is prepd. by blending 10-40% resol type phenolic resin with a 5C or higher alkyl group into a resol type phenolic resin having no substituent such as alkyl group or a resol type phenolic resin having a 4C or lower alkyl group (e.g. orthocresol resin and p-tert-butylphenol resin). An adhesive with high bonding power, etc. is obtained without need of adding rubber, resin, etc. When applied to metal, the adhesive has no tackiness after drying and shows good workability.
