PURPOSE:To stabilize not only the flight of ink particles but also printing by regulating the viscosity of ink, by a method wherein the flight speed of ink particles is detected and the pressure of the ink supplied to a nozzle is regulated when the detected value is smaller than a set value and, when smaller even if the regulation was performed, a liquid diluent is added to an ink supply system. CONSTITUTION:To a deflection control type ink jet recording apparatus, a means for detecting the flight speed of the ink particle injected from a nozzle 5 (for example, a means for measuring a time before the ink particle injected from the nozzle 5 reaches a gutter 9), a means for controlling a pump for supplying pressurized ink to the nozzle 5, an ink diluent receiving container 15 and a means for controlling the supply of the diluent to an ink recirculation supply system are provided and, when the detection value of the flight speed is smaller than a set value, the pump control means is controlled so as to make the energizing of the pump and, when smaller even if control was applied, the diluent is added. |
