PURPOSE:To prevent a fixing roll from deforming, etc., by storing the latch state of the fixing roll even if the power source is turned off, and releasing the latch with a signal from a latch reset button when the power source is turned on again. CONSTITUTION:When the pressure roll and heat roll of the fixing device 9 are latched, the latch flag in a nonvoltile memory 7 is set. The latch flag in the memory is held set except at a normal stop, and when a CPU4 is powered on, the latch flag in the memory 7 is referred to, thereby judging whether a latch resetting sequence is entered or not. If the power source is turned off suddenly and turned again, the latch flag in the memory 7 is checked and when set, it is judged that the latch can not be release, thereby releasing the latch with the signal from the latch release button 10. Thus, even if the equipment is powered off during operation to stop, the latch is released and the deformation of the fixing roll, etc., are prevented. |
