An image display device is provided with a light emitting means organic EL element (OLED); a driving transistor (Td) for controlling light emission of the organic EL element (OLED) by having a gate electrode (control terminal), a drain electrode (first terminal or second terminal) and a source electrode (first terminal or second terminal) and by controlling a current flowing between the source electrode and the drain electrode corresponding to a potential difference between the gate electrode and the source electrode; an auxiliary capacitive element (Cs) wherein one electrode is directly or indirectly connected with a gate electrode of the organic EL element (OLED), and the other electrode is directly or indirectly connected to an image signal line (14) which supplies a potential corresponding to image data; and an added capacitive element (Cs2) electrically connected in series with the auxiliary capacitive element (Cs) in a period while the image data is being written in the auxiliary capacitive element (Cs) through the image signal line (14).</p>
