PURPOSE:To vaporize and remove effectively sulfur in a steel bath by specifying the C concn. in the steel bath while being added with a carbonaceous material, and simultaneously providing a blowing section for controlling the basicity of slag to a specified value when oxygen is blown in a converter added with the carbonaceous material. CONSTITUTION:When a carbonaceous material is added as a heat supply source and blowing by oxygen is carried out in a converter, the C concn. in the steel bath is kept at >=2wt% while the carbonaceous material is added, and a blowing section for controlling basicity of slag to <=1.2 is provided. Consequently, the carrying-in of sulfur by the carbonaceous material is controlled, and an increase in the content of sulfur can be avoided. The C content becomes <2% by the continuation of blowing, and the desulfurization by vaporization is sufficiently effected at this time. Accordingly, the operation is returned to normal blowing conditions. |
