PURPOSE:To attain ease of carrying of a thin and a thick original to the reading section by moving independently an original plate and an original feeding equipment respectively to the main body equipment. CONSTITUTION:One end of the original platen 3 is supported by a pedestal platen 23 in the main body 1 via a slide rail 22 provided in the reciprocating direction of the platen 3, the ridge this side of the plate 3 is inserted and supported to a guide rail 24 arranged in the reciprocating direction of the platen 3 to the main body 1 and guided along the rail. Then the platen 3 is slidable along the rails 22, 24 toward the reciprocating directions (a), (b) but not moving in a direction at right angles to the directions (a), (b). Moreover, the original feeding device 2 is slidable along the rail 27 in the directions (a), (b) similarly but not moving in a direction at right angles to the (a), (b).
