PURPOSE:To prevent the diversification of materials and cutting tools and to reduce the production cost by sintering a tapered discharge hole and a valve seat at the outer periphery of the hole to obtain a valve seat material, polishing the valve seat, and working the inner diameter of the discharge hole into a specified size in accordance with the requirement. CONSTITUTION:A tapered discharge hole material 14b' (having inner diameters d1 and d3) and a valve seat material 14c' (having a center diameter S3) are formed by sintering to obtain a valve plate material 14' which is provided in the valve chest 14a of a hermetic vessel of a rotary compressor. The valve plate material 14' is polished by rotating and pressing a cutting tool 15 equipped with a valve seat polishing part 15a and a guide part 15b on the valve plate material 14' to obtain a valve seat 14c. Then the tapered discharge hole material 14b' is finished with a cutting tool 16 in accordance with the requirement into a discharge port 14b having internal diameter (d), and the valve seat 14c and the discharge port 14b are worked. Consequently, only one kind of the valve plate material 14' and the cutting tool 15 may be sufficiently used, and the cost of production of materials and control, and the cost of cutting tools in specified shapes can be remarkably reduced.
