PURPOSE:To clean the surface of a molding to an extent greater than that attained by a conventional process and at the same time to stabilize the quality of a painted molding, by plasma-treating a resin molding before degreasing and washing in painting the molding. CONSTITUTION:In painting a molding of poor coatability, such as a polyolefin resin molding, said molding is plasa-treated, degreased, washed, plasma-treated again, and painted. The plasma treatment before degreasing and washing is preferably carried out by using O2 or O2+N2 gas. The degreasing and washing steps may be any of solvent vapor washing, solvent wipe, degreasing, washing solution spray, and immersion. Because the decomposition of oil and the elimination of charges are effected by the first plasma treatment, the load on the degreasing and washing steps can be reduced. The second plasma treatment is preferably carried out by using a gas such as O2, O2+N2, or He.
