PURPOSE:To obtain glass article having matted decorative surface, with simple process, by forming the objective pattern to the surface of the glass, applying a clear paint composed of a radiation-curing resin containing matting agent to the surface, and curing the resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective pattern 21 such as various kinds of marks, letters, figures, etc. is formed on the surface of a glass article 1 by coating, adhesion, etc. A clear paint composed of a radiation curing resin containing a matting agent (e.g. silica) is applied to the surface of the pattern and cured with radiation to obtain a clear matt layer 23 covering said pattern 21. A number of complicate the delicate steps required in the conventional process, i.e. the baking of pattern, the application of coating glass layer, and the matting of the glass surface, etc., are unnecessary in the present process. Accordingly, the decorative glass can be manufactured in high productivity, and the matting layer has little influence to the underlying pattern and its color.
