The cooler (1) brings cooling liquid in vessel (15) to a temp. of approx. 1 deg.C. This temp. is controlled by a thermostat (18). If, for a short period, compressed air is required, the air from the compressor is, via an inlet (8), cooled in a heat exchanger (10). The moisture condenses and is separated in a separator (11). The dried compressed air is then warmed in second heat exchanger (12), which is in heat exchange contact with a condenser (3) of the cooling unit. The dried compressed air flows through an outlet (9) for use in a pneumatic appts.
