Disclosed is an optical transmission line constituting method and the like which enables to measure connection loss more accurately at low cost. At least one of the first and second optical fibers to be connected as components of the optical transmission line is selected such that a predetermined relation is satisfied between the first and second optical fibers, which relation is defined by Reyleigh scattering coefficients, mode field diameters and transmission losses of the first and second optical fibers at a wavelength lambda within the wavelength range from 1260 nm to 1625 nm.
