PURPOSE:To reduce the deflection in a roll shaft and to elevate the accuracy in the finishing diameter of the material to be rolled by constituting the rolling load applied on a cantilever roll to be held by a backing-up ring. CONSTITUTION:A rod steel S is transferred among each roll 14 and a bearing holder 33 is moved to the side of the roll 14, and the inner periphery surface of the backing-up ring 35 is brought into contact with each roll 14 and each roll 14 is rotated, and then the rod steel S is rolled to the prescribed diameter. In this case the reaction force which is from the rod steel S is applied onto each roll 14 but due to the backing-up ring 35 pressing each roll 14, there is no fear of each roll 14 widening out to the outside and the rod steel S is surely rolled to the prescribed diameter. |
