PURPOSE:To increase the speed of a press operation and to improve the efficiency thereof by driving the operation of a liquid pressure type double-action press which is provided with the advantages of both hydraulic press and mechanical press by means of power generators for a high-speed double-action hydraulic press. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic fluid is fed through respective pipings 6a, 6b by the power generator PGA for actuating a piston-like inner ram 2a which is fixed with an inner punch at the top end and the power generator PGB for actuating an annular outer ram 2b which is fixed with an upper die 3 at the top end and is penetrated with the ram 2a through the central part thereof in the stage of press working with the liquid pressure type double-action press having a liquid pressure type slide 2 consisting of said ram 2a and ram 2b. The outer ram 2b descends earlier than the inner ram 2a to close the dies and the ram 2a descends upon stopping of the outer ram to press the material to be worked in the dies and thereafter the inner ram ascends. The press operation is executed at the high speed and high efficiency by such doubleaction press operation.
