PURPOSE:To reduce the width of a magnetization transitional layer so as to improve the recording density, by setting the angle between a straight line including the straight line specifying the length of a gap for recording and reproduction and a slider surface to a certain angle. CONSTITUTION:When information is recorded by using a magnetic head 13, with the angle between a straight line including the straight line specifying the gap length G of a gap section 4 and the slider surface 8 of the magnetic head 13 being theta, a leakage magnetic flux produced from the gap section 4 obliquely enters a recording medium 5 as shown by the 6b of the figure. However, a magnetization inverted section becomes the part shown by the broken line 7b, since the recording medium 5 moves in the direction shown by the arrow M. Therefore, the width W2 of a magnetization transitional layer formed in the magnetization inverted section 7b is reduced (shorter) than that of conventional magnetization transitional layers. |
