PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient brake force even when the rotating speed of an engine is low by rotating a stator of a generator by the output of an engine in a reverse direction to a rotor by a retarder made of a generator which uses the flywheel of the engine as a rotor. CONSTITUTION:An inductor pole 19 is formed on a flywheel 18 coupled with a crankshaft 6 of an engine 1, a stator having an armature coil 22 and a field coil 23 is opposed to form a generate and used as a retarder. In this case, a stator is coupled through transmission means made of gears 9-15 with a crankshaft 6, and the stator is rotated in reverse direction to a rotor (flywheel) by the output of an engine. Thus, even if the rotating speed of the engine is low, sufficient variation in the magnetic flux is obtained to increase the output of the generator. Therefore, sufficient brake force can be acted on the engine. |
